SAN DIEGO – July 11, 2011 – Sony Online Entertainment LLC (SOE) today announced the first Downloadable Content (DLC) pack for DC Universe Online (DCUO), "Fight for the Light." Featuring DC Comics favorite The Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) and the introduction of the game's seventh power set – Light, the new downloadable content will be available this summer for both PC and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system.

"The Green Lantern has been a mainstay for DC Comics fans for more than 60 years, and is a fan favorite among our players," said Mark Anderson, Game Director of DC Universe Online. "We've listened to the feedback, and fans can now create their own Lantern-inspired characters including the use of light powers."

In addition to the new light power set, players will also be able to interact with Green Lantern based characters and content in DC Universe Online in these all-new gameplay scenarios:

S.T.A.R. Labs – Deep within S.T.A.R Labs, Brainiac seeks to control experimental devices that will allow him to harness the power source behind the Lantern Corps' rings. This attack throws the Lantern Corps into chaos, and players must join a fragile truce between the Green and Yellow Lantern Corps to bring the powerful devices back under STAR Labs control.

Coast City – Players must battle their way through the "City Without Fear" to Ferris Aircraft, the home of fighter ace Hal Jordan. Here they face the unbridled rage of the Red Lantern Corps in a showdown to save the city and the Universe.

Sciencells Prison – On the Green Lantern Corp's home planet Oa, heroes will join with Guy Gardner to stop a prison break that threatens to release the most feared prisoners of the Green Lantern Corps. Villains will fight alongside Sinestro as he attempts to release the Green Lantern Corps' greatest foes and retrieve the evil Lyssa Drak from her emerald powered prison cell.

Green Lantern offers another exciting superhero for PC and PS3 players to join forces with in their epic battles online, following DCUO's ongoing combat missions featuring other DC Comics legends such as, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Joker and Lex Luthor.

DC Universe Online's "Fight for the Light" DLC pack will be available for download for $9.99 USD this summer for PC and PlayStation®3 players.

really question the timing of this announcement - Metropolis and Gotham
City are ghost towns, because there are few if any content updates for
them, and SOE chooses to announce yet more instanced maps in a *paid*
DLC pack?

Breathe some *life* back into the servers before you ask your customers for more cash.

The
design of this MMO is flawed fundamentally - players who get to
max-level seem to 'ascend' to a higher plane where they are doomed to
play out their existence in tiny instanced worlds. Oh yes, they can
return to Metropolis or Gotham, but like the ghosts that they are, there
is nothing for them to do there.

I'm guessing this frak-up is due to:

1.
Someone emphasizing instanced content (Cao? Dare I say... Andersen
too?) at the expense of any shared world content, depriving the main
cities of any updates *and* any life. Come on, Metropolis and Gotham are
beautifully realized worlds, but you left them empty save for the
starter missions.

Yes, creating new worlds is fun and rewarding
for both devs and players, but either let the lower-level players
explore them with the high-level players, or strike a proper balance
between shared world and instanced content. That is how you make a
living world.

2. SOE pushing the devs to work on paid DLC when
they could have been hitting their monthly content update targets and
fixing bugs, things that keep the player base happy and loyal. I blame
this on the SOE execs, for pushing it to make the Green Lantern movie /
Fan Faire timeframe. I'm sure the devs are working hard, they are
just... misdirected.

Good, proper expansions should be rewarded
with player cash, but not at the expense of the main game, which is
suffering from neglect.

Turn this ship around, SOE. There may still be time."

Agora que já tem cash to esperando ficar free, porque pagar mensalidade e ainda ter que comprar cash é rídiculo.

Cara eu achei legal essa iniciativa da SOE, eu acho que em vez de eles lançarem uma grande expansão, eles vão lançar esses Dlc. Ou seja em vez da gente esperar 6 meses por uma grande expansão, a gente vai ter varios updates ao longo desses 6 meses que no fim significa a mesma coisa. Qual a diferença de pagar 80 reais numa expansão para pagar 20 reais em 4 dlc?

Por isso ao meu ver eu prefiro esses dlc, ja que o jogo no pc está precisando muito de novos conteudos. Quem sabe se esse Dlc não vender bem, a gente não tem outro com novos poderes ou aumentando o level?

Marcelo essa historia de ficar free partiu da onde? alguem da SOE sinalizou com essa possibilidade? Não tenho muito conhecimento de outros MMO mas eu acho que a SOE não é muito fan de free to play não, visto que Swg nunca ficou ftp e analisando que DCu é o principal MMO da SOE e a população do PST é significativa eu acho dificil o jogo virar FTtp. Posso estar enganado, mas como eu to afim de renovar a minha assinatura gostaria de saber mais sobre essa possibilidade, alguma previsão?

Nunca falaram em ficar free, eu to falando que é foda tu paga mensalidade e ainda ter cash itens. Cash itens é coisa de F2P.

É a mesma coisa de você mora numa casa de aluguel e o cara querer cobrar a mais tudo o que você for usar (fogão, geladeira).

Agora que já tem cash itens só volto se ficar free, achei que a palhaçada Cash + Mensalidade era só na LUG, mas me enganei pelo jeito.

Edit: Pelo menos não sou o único que acho isso um absurdo, nos comentários da IGN o pessoal ta reclamando também.

Eu concordo com voce Marcelo, meu apoio a esse Dlc é baseado na realidade do Jogo, o jogo precisa de novos conteudos e esperar 6 meses ou um ano por novos poderes ou aumento do Level eu acho pior. Infelizmente o jogo morreu no PC, logo se a unica forma de se trazer mais conteudo interessante for assim que seja.

Esses itens são op ou só são novos estilos? Da para eu ficar uber só comprando esses itens?

Querem a real? Só continua jogando esse jogo quem limpa a bunda com dinheiro ou quem é mto mto lerdo. O que estão fazendo com os jogadores é ridículo. Primeiro a palhaçada de ter que pagar um mês pra poder usufruir do DIREITO garantido de um mês gratuito na compra do jogo. Depois lançam o jogo com 3298704629837463 bugs totalmente relevantes e que afetavam diretamente toda a gameplay do jogo. Mas eles queriam mais, demonstraram um total desrespeito a comunidade com TOTAL falta de atenção aos pedidos dos jogadores, quando pedíamos apenas para a correção de UM único glitch a priori. Mas ahhhh, estômago de gordo sempre cabe mais, apesar da mensalidade, o serviço demonstrado pela staff era porco, atualizações medíocres que pouco acrescentavam ao end game do jogo(que era muito muito curto). E a pegadinha do malandro ainda não estava pra acabar, mas dessa vez a culpa não fora totalmente deles, mas o sistema foi invadido e dados pessoais como cartões de créditos dos jogadores foram roubaods!!! Que wonderfull!!!
Blz, blz, eu como fã do jogo e da série, continuei firme e forte com meu parceiro de guerra Soulstice e continuávamos chutando traseiros de vilões constantemente no jogo.

Eh negao, mas parece q eles tavam afim eh de destruir até minha dignidade marciana, não satisfeitos em destruir meu planeta e minha família, eles colocam em prática o sistema de CASH no jogo e CONTINUAM com a mensalidade!!! Ai não tem coração bom que resista neh vei...

Só eu achei q os itens de cash são ridiculos?(O coringa é apenas um coringa com a skin diferente, styles diferentes feios bacarai, porem nada que muda o gameplay)
Se virar free to play quero ver o q farão com o pessoal com lifetime(eu), e acredito q ira virar uma zona com bots e nego anoiado.

Eu até curto o jogo , não me importo de pagar , e olha que não limpo a bunda com dinheiro como disse nosso patriota ai em cima .... somente reservo um pouco do que ganho para gastar com minhas "bobeiras"...
Porém a questão dos bugs é uma verdade...e agora o sistema de cash chutou minhas bol@s !


O Fato que me desagrada mais ainda é , o jogo era da sony caramba , eles podiam fazer algo melhor...olha o tema que eles tem em mãos...e estão perdendo...eles tinham praticamente a história pronta , só precisavam trabalhar em cima , personagens , tudo !!! ...

Cara Martian eu concordo parcialmente com voce. Com relação aos bugs, cheats, hacks e cheaters não tem desculpa para a SOE, especialmente se considerarmos que muitos bugs persistem desde o beta. A SOE é extremamente lerda nesse aspecto e obviamente não parece ser uma prioridade para ela.

Agora com relação ao cash itens, infelizmente essa parece ser a nova moda dos MMO pagos. Ate wow tem (voce pode comprar uma montaria por 25 dolares). E o que parece ser aceitavel pela comunidade é que enquanto esses itens seja apenas cosmetico (que parece ser o caso de DCu) não ha problema. O fato de voce comprar estilo A, B ou C no shop não vai trazer vantagem para quem não comprou, especialmente em DCU que existe centenas de estilos.

Ja com relação aos DLC, enquanto a SOE continuar com os updates gratis (que parece ser o caso) não vejo problema em ela cobrar por novos poderes, novos niveis ou cidades. Novos poderes significa mais diversidade ao jogo e mesmo se vc não comprar (meu caso ja que não so fã desses novos poderes) voce podera enfrentar e jogar com gente que comprou. Então no fim não deixa de ser apenas mais uma opção para voce.

Quando a gente começou a jogar nos tinhamos:
-6 HA, 2 raids e 5 duos.
-Uma pessima interface e bugs que praticamente destruia o pvp.

Quem começar a jogar no update 4 e com o Dlc, vai ter:
-+10 HA, +5 Raids e +8 duos;
- Megaserver com uma populçao decente;
-Pvp bem mais divertido e uma maior variedade do Solo mission.

Então o jogo ta evoluindo e quem começar a jogar agora pega um jogo muito mais variado e com mais opçoes do quem começou a jogar no inicio.

ok galera tem gente que esta pensando ai poxa mas pq tanto alvoroco sao apenas 20 reais mas convenhamos nao vou pagar por algo que ja paguei tenho conta ativa ate setembro ai ainda tenho que pagar pra jogar o que a sony ta fazendo e roubo galera ou poe f2p ou nao pode mas o cara pagar a mensalidade e ainda ter que pagar por atualizacoes que so tornam o jogo mais travado e fod.... convenhamos eu comecei a joga dc ja estava na segunda atualizacao ate ai nao tive problema nenhum meu som funcionava perfeitamente meu voice chat era uma maravilha ai veio a atualizacao 3 voice chat bugou de vez perda de microfone a cada 10 min fora uma chiadeira horrivel quando entro no jogo depois veio a 4 o cara nao pode entrar na wathtower que o jogo trava ja estamos no path 1.18 que comecou no 1.10 melhorou mais nao resolveu o que esperar agora pagar pra ficar mais travado ainda o que eh pior por algo que ja paguei. cara sinceramente nao sei quanto a vcs mas eu vou jogar os meus outros jogos que estavam esquecidos na minha pratileira foi bom enquanto durou

O cruel de tudo isto é pagar mensalidade, pagar update e consigo a infinidade de bugs que um novo update traz.

Hi Folks,

Just arrived back from the SOE Fan Faire last night and I wanted to post a quick note about the event, where we are at on various fronts and update you on some of the exciting game play additions that are coming in the near future.

Fan Faire is one of the most interesting and unique events I attend every year. Getting together with all of the fans, hearing about what they like (and don't like) about the game, and being able just to sit down and watch them play and critique the content is very cool. We had two panels this year with a nice crowd for each. Jens Andersen did a panel on the future of the game, focusing on Game Update 4 and details of each of the upcoming Fortress of Solitude raid levels. He showed screen shots of the new environments and explained some of the challenges players would face. Mark Halash (Tunso) did a panel on the DCUO combat systems, including an interesting examination of how it evolved, some of the ideas that were tried and rejected, and details about the inner workings of the systems now. Of course it was not all so serious, with a great pool party on Friday night that I will not soon forget (no really...there are some things you cannot un-see). If you did not get a chance to attend this one please try and come next year. These are really great events with a lot of information and a chance to meet other players like yourself who are passionate about DCUO.

Fan Faire was also our first chance to talk with the press about our upcoming DLC expansion pack: DCUO Fight for the Light Pack. We know we have been cagey about Light powers for awhile but we are glad to finally be able to release some details about our first expansion to DCUO. While we are holding a lot of the nuts and bolts details for San Diego Comic-Con we were able to show some game play footage and talk about the new Light Power Set that we will be offering players later this summer. Reading some of the forum threads there does seem to be some misunderstanding about the DLC pack and its impact on your regular updates, and ongoing additions/enhancements and fixes to the game. Just to clarify, this does not impact our game update schedule at all. Like any MMO, we have had a small team working on an expansion, aka downloadable content pack, for some time. Because we are the first real action MMO on both the PC and PS3 and many of our players are more used to the DLC game expansions that other action games offer we wanted to fully embrace the approach that our players prefer – more game play, more often. Waiting a year and a half for new power sets and other major additions to the core game, that are typically part of MMO expansions, just did not feel right. You can still expect the same timely release of updates and features to the game as part of your game time subscription. These DLC expansions are completely optional and are aimed at folks looking to expand upon the current game in a way that goes beyond what would be contained in a typical update. We hope this is the best of all worlds, ongoing updates that typically offer a new alert, raid and hard mode or duo type zone along with the premium expansion, or DLC pack content, a few times per year to add another level of opportunity for those who want it. We want to give our players options, all of which offer great game play on an ongoing basis.

Update 4 is going through final testing here right now and we hope to release it in the next few weeks. The Fortress I raid is looking great as is the other maps and features. For those folks who plan on participating in the PC Test Server, you will be able to test a lot of the new content and features for a week or more before release to the Live game. And speaking of the Test Server we have just one issue related to the Shared Bank to resolve before we open it up. I stare very hard at the guys every morning, throwing in a little stink eye, to let them know how much I want this done. We are on a round-the-clock review of the Test Server code right now. Expect it to happen with little notice very soon. We need to post some info about differences between the Test and Live servers so there is no confusion but we plan on opening it the second it is ready.

There is no Raid content in the DLC expansion. All Raids and Tiered armor being introduced to the game are in the regular updates. Update 4 will introduce the Fortress Raid series and T3 armor sets. Updates 5 & 6 will have the next two Raid levels for the Fortress series.

Bom, pelo menos ele sugere que raids e armaduras Tier nunca serão pagos e constam em atualizaçoes regulares.
Temo que esse jogo se torne ainda mais captalista.

Os itens pagos até o momento não tem nenhuma importância para o desenrolar do jogo. Já o DLC provavelmente terá, pois adicionará missões que somente poderão ser jogadas por quem possuir o DLC. Além de adicionar o novo poder, que segundo o que eu li cairá na role de controller.

A SOE está seguindo exatamente a mesma fórmula do WOW. Exatamente a mesma fórmula. Mensalidade para o jogo principal, lançamento de expansões e itens para comprar. Acho pouco provável que isso mude, logo deixo a minha opinião que o jogo não será free nem tão cedo, principalmente aqui no PS3, onde além de ser a única opção de MMO o jogo não para de crescer. Somente a nossa liga tem uns 60 players ativos e se contarmos os múltiplos chars de cada um chegamos a quase 100 chars. Só a nossa liga. O server que jogamos está sempre com a população em Medium.

Para mim o maior problema do PC são os cheaters. Isso me irritaria profundamente, mas como eu sou um imbecil em PvP eu ía achar que estava morrendo porque o cara é bom mesmo!!!

Essa galera do PC chora demais porque eles tem outras opções.
